Entering the home stretch of the tour on Tuesday, the Garnet did what every visitor to Athens is required to do and visited the world-renown Acropolis. The Acropolis served as the political and religious center of ancient Athens city-state, which is credited with the start of democracy and western civilization in general. Built in 400 B.C., the Acropolis of Athens sits that sits atop a flat rock on one of the highest points of the city for protections from invading armies. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Acropolis of Athens contains the Erechtheum, Temple of Athena Nike and most well-know of all, the Parthenon.

The charity clinic, the proceeds of which will benefit the Genocide Intervention Network, runs from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Swarthmore's Lamb-Miller Field House. ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The road to the Centennial Conference Championship will go through Clothier Field Stadium. In a battle between two of the top teams in the Conference and in the region, senior Morgan Langley scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season in the 48th minute to give the No. 8/9 Swarthmore College men's soccer team a 1-0 road victory over No. 20 Muhlenberg on Wednesday evening from Allentown. With the win, the Garnet (13-1-2, 6-0-2) secure the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Centennial Conference playoffs and home-field advantage for the event. The Swarthmore win also hands the Mules their first loss of the 2010 season (9-1-6).

Men's Soccer Caps Garnet Homecoming With 4-0 Victory Over McDaniel
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - With over 800 fans, students and alumni packed in the Clothier Field Stadium bleachers for Garnet Homecoming Weekend, the No. 1 Swarthmore College men's soccer team put on a show that no one in attendance is likely to forget. 2010 Men's Soccer Season Preview
SWARTHMORE, Pa. – For the Swarthmore College men’s soccer team, the 2009 season had everything needed for a storybook season - everything but the perfect ending. After recording one of the best regular seasons in program history and once again reaching the NCAA Sweet 16 in dramatic fashion, the Garnet’s season ended in heartbreak, losing to lower-seeded Transylvania on penalty kicks. But that heartbreak is fuel for the 2010 team, which hopes to fight for another Centennial Conference championship and advance past the Round of 16 for the first time in over 30 years.

Swarthmore College Garnet Men's Soccer Hosts 8th Annual Benefit Youth Clinic
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College Garnet men's soccer team hosted its 8th annual benefit youth soccer clinic on Saturday, January 30th, raising over $600 for the relief agency Genocide Intervention Network (www.genocideintervention.net). In addition to learning basic skills, such as passing, dribbling, and defending, over 40 children had a chance to play matches against each other during the two-hour clinic. Members of Swarthmore STAND, G. I. Net's student-spokespeople at the College, also briefed the children and their parents about the terrible humanitarian situation in Darfur, Sudan.

No. 11 Men's Soccer Upsets No. 2 Stevens Tech 1-0
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Last season, the Swarthmore College men's soccer team traveled to Stevens Tech and ended the Ducks' 62-game home winning streak. A year later, at Clothier Field Stadium, the result was the same. Sophomore Roberto Contreras IV scored in 23rd minute on a beautiful volley in the front of the box and the Garnet defense put a stranglehold on the potent Ducks' offense, as No. 11 Swarthmore (4-0) defeated No. 2 Stevens Tech 1-0 onSunday afternoon. The victory marks the highest-ranked opponent ever defeated by a Swarthmore men's soccer team on record. The win is also the program's first win against a Top 5 opponent since the Garnet topped No. 5 Stevens Tech last season.

Garnet Soccer Teams Move Up in National Rankings
SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Both Swarthmore soccer teams opened the season with a 3-0 record and a tournament championship. Now, both teams are shaking up the national rankings.Both the Garnet men’s and women’s soccer teams made a splash in the most recent NSCAA Division III national rankings released on Tuesday afternoon, with the men moving up from No. 13 to No. 11 and the women entering the poll for the first time this season at No. 23.

Langley Brothers Propel Garnet to 4-1 Win Over Catholic
SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Down 1-0 early in the second half, the No. 13 Swarthmore men’s soccer team rallied behind arguably the best set of brothers in Division III soccer. Senior captain Dylan Langley scored two goals – including the equalizer – while junior Morgan Langley netted the go-ahead goal in the 68th minute, as the Garnet rallied to defeat Catholic University 4-1 in the final game of the 12th Annual Garnet Alumni Classic from Clothier Field Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

No. 13 Men's Soccer Blanks Wesley 3-0
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - In its first home contest of the season, the No. 13 Swarthmore men’s soccer team certainly gave the raucous crowd at Clothier Field Stadium something to cheer about. Junior Morgan Langley recorded a goal and assist while sophomores Gage Newman and Fabian Castro each added first half goals as the Garnet topped Wesley College 3-0 in Swarthmore’s first game of 12th Annual Garnet Alumni Classic.

2009 Season Preview: Garnet Look To Defend Centennial Crown
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - It was a magical run for the Swarthmore men’s soccer team in 2008. In the program’s best season in 25 years, the Garnet captured the program’s first Centennial Conference Championship, advanced to the third round of the NCAA Championship after making the program’s first appearance in the tournament since 1991, and set program records for Conference victories (8) and longest unbeaten streak (13). The team also spent nearly the entire season in the national rankings.
